delegation from the Workers Advice Center (WAC) visited Galicia and Madrid in the first week of October. It consisted of Samya Nasser Hittab, who chairs the WAC board; Assaf Adiv, its National Coordinator; and Yacov Ben Efrat, a founder of WAC and the General Secretary of the Organization for Democratic Action. The three were invited by CIG (Confederacion Intersindical Galega), an independent trade union in Galicia, which had taken part in a fact-finding delegation that visited Israel/Palestine in April at WAC's invitation.
In Galicia, the delegation held meetings with the leadership of CIG, as well as members of the autonomous parliament there. It also met with labor activists in several other cities. The local Galician press gave the visit broad coverage.
In Madrid the delegation held discussions with Comisiones Obreras (CCOO) and with the general secretary of Union Sindical Obrera, Manuel Zaguirre. It also met with several NGOs, among them FPS and ACSUR.
